James Andrew Hendy - 1942

Death of Mr. J.A. Hendy, after a short illness on Thursday week. James Andrew Hendy aged 74, one of the proprietors of Hendy’s Library, High Street, passed away at home 129 High Street. A native of Sandown but lived in village for 50 years. Before starting his successful newsagents business he was gardener to Countess Cowley at Bodwen. His wife died some years ago.

Funeral at St Edmunds on Monday, Rector. Rev. Genower.

Chief mourners – Mr & Mrs W. Hendy; Mr & Mrs L. Hendy; Mr & Mrs E. Hendy (sons and daughters-in-law) E.B. Newnham; J. Salter; Mr. W.H. Please made arrangements.
